Message from the Director
Thank you for visiting the SIU Automotive Technology website. Our program is home to over 300 students all pursuing a technical and management degree that will equip them with the skills needed to succeed in various positions such as technical trainers, technical writers, service engineers, district service managers, and many more. We are proud of our 70-year old legacy and want to get a chance to show you what we have to offer. Our state-of-the-art facility is home to 15 faculty with diverse backgrounds and experiences teaching 36 courses that will prepare you for a career in the mobility/transportation industry. Joe Ragnanese III teaches the Emissions and Drivability course and the Hybrid Vehicles course. He spent his youth working at his family's auto repair business before working for Stellantis (then Fiat Chrysler Automotive) as a technical trainer and curriculum developer. He researches advanced engine controls and hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
